Core Principles of Recording Studio Acoustic Design
Even the best materials must follow spatial design logic. Below are the universal golden principles for studio acoustic construction.

1. Reasonable Room Proportions

Prioritize spaces close to the golden ratio (1:1.6:2.3). Avoid square or overly narrow rooms to reduce standing waves and sound focusing. Irregular spaces require targeted material optimization.

2. Ensure Uniform Sound Field

  • Keep monitoring and recording positions away from corners, windows, and other acoustic problem areas.
  • Combine absorption and diffusion; do not use only absorption or only diffusion.
  • Keep left and right wall treatments symmetrical to avoid unbalanced sound.

3. Focus on Low-Frequency Control

Low frequencies are the most difficult to handle and most critical to sound quality, so they must be addressed first:

  • Install bass traps in all corners.
  • Use vibration isolation or floating floor construction to reduce low-frequency vibration.
  • Use low-frequency absorption modules in large spaces to avoid bass buildup.

4. Focus on the “Golden Acoustic Zones”

80% of studio acoustic performance comes from key areas:

  • First reflection points: side walls near monitors, front ceiling
  • Low-frequency core areas: all corners, floor-wall junctions
  • Rear wall: combine diffusion and absorption for an overall balanced sound field
